First Review: Azuza Hookah Lounge

The hookah craze in Las Vegas has grown exponentially in the past couple of years. Lounges have been popping up from Summerlin to Green Valley. Hookah lounges are basically bars for the 18-20 year old crowd making them great places to socialize. If you don't know what hookah is visit this site for detailed information on it...http://www.hookahcompany.com/cmenuitem_1.htm. Briefly, hookah is a water pipe that can be loaded with tobacco that can be flavored with anything from peach to hazelnut. Do not be deceived by people saying hookah smoking is safer than cigarette smoking, because in the end hookah smoking is STILL smoking tobacco. But I am a huge advocate of everything in moderation is perfectly alright.

Anyways let's get back to the venue that this article is reviewing, Azuza Hookah Lounge, located at 6340 West Charleston Boulevard across from the College of Southern Nevada Charleston campus. Azuza has a very hip vibe to it with a bar area that has individual hookahs and severals areas for groups of customers to share a hookah. The hookahs seem to be well-taken care of and clean. What makes Azuza stand apart from other hookah lounges is its flavor menu. They have a multitude of single flavors plus very interestingly named mixed flavors. My personal favorite was their flavor named, Fruit Loops. Their hookahs smoked well and the service was good. During the week the lounge seems to be quieter, but on the weekends it can get packed. Music in the lounge ranges from rap to techno. At times the music was so loud I could barely hold a conversation with my friends. Unfortunately, this lounge can get pricey as well with the requirement of a drink purchase with your hookah. Hookahs are around 15 dollars plus the price of your drinks. But in my opinion the prices are justified given the quality of the hookahs. I have not smoked a better hookah in town.

Azuza not only serves hookah, but also serves exotic teas from a hot flowering green tea to iced tea. The teas seem bland in my opinion and aren't worth the price. Go with a bottle of water instead.

If you are sitting alone at home bored on a Friday night and have some extra cash to spend, call up your friends or head down by yourself to Azuza Hookah Lounge. It is definitely worth a try if you like to smoke hookah. Here is their website if you would like information on their times and specials...http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=108553640
